Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards will host a program with baseball historian Richard
"Pastime" D'Ambrisi on Saturday, June 27th at 1:00 p.m. that will discuss base ball (spelled two
words until 1890s) from the 1800s and showcase equipment from the era, as well as profile the
early rules of the game.
D’Ambrisi has developed an extensive display of reproduction materials and images that tell the story of the evolution of baseball in America. As part of the program, he will discuss the evolution of baseball in the 1800s and display baseball equipment from that period. The program is free with paid admission to the Museum.
The program will provide a hands on display of authentically reproduced uniforms, equipment, documents, books and other accessories used by a mid-19th century base ball player. D’ Ambrisi will explore the history of the development of the sport in Maryland and across America, the Doubleday Myth of “Who Invented Base Ball?,” the 1791 Pittsfield Baseball Law and much more.
