Gibson Island Country School to Host Fall Festival
Gibson Island Country School to Host Fall Festival on October 18 to Promote Environmental Awareness as a Maryland Green School
As an annual event at Gibson Island Country School (GICS), this year the focus of the Fall Festival has a theme of environmental awareness and going green to match its status of a Green School in the state of Maryland through the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEO). With major bodies of water on two sides, complete with a pier used for study, marshland with learning trail, and a “no mow” butterfly zone, the school is an environmental science paradise. The main objective of being a Green School is the environmental education curriculum and GICS would like to share this with the community through the annual Fall Festival.
To commemorate this event, GICS will be hosting Eco Tours, demonstrations, and various exhibitors including such environmentally friendly companies as The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Solar Energy Services Inc., Furbish Company, Eco-Harmony Services, and others. The event will also include loads of activities and food for both adults and children alike, including a fine arts venue, music by Lennard Jack (steel pannist), a rock wall, an inflatable maze, and a mini petting zoo amongst other family-friendly activities
