Sand boxes, sculptures and smiles! Harborplace & The Gallery partners with the Baltimore Architecture Foundation to host City Sand 2008, a sand sculpture building contest based on the theme “Reasons to Smile.” Trident, the presenting sponsor of this year’s competition believes “There’s Strength in a Smile…Pass it Along.”
Local teams of architects, builders, and other design professionals compete in the annual competition of building multi-dimensional, spectacular themed sand sculptures for the public to enjoy (and judge). While the experts are creating their masterpieces, children of all ages are welcome to join in the fun in their own giant sandbox. Awards are presented to the winning team based on people's choice voting and a panel of judges.
Enjoy musical entertainment by St. Veronica’s Steel Drum Band and Swingin Swamis (jazz, funk and everything in between), and family friendly activities throughout the day.
Trident will distribute gum samples and offer guests the opportunity to show off their pearly whites by getting their photo taken to pass along their smiles in Trident Photo Booths.
