Charlestown to Host Catonsville Relay for Life Reception

Celebration to Highlight 10th Anniversary of American Cancer Society’s Signature Event

CATONSVILLE, MD—Charlestown Retirement Community will serve as host for a special evening honoring perseverance and celebrating life.

The Catonsville Relay for Life Survivor’s Reception, a signature event of the American Cancer Society, will take place on Monday, June 2, 2008 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Charlestown Retirement Community’s John Erickson Conference Center (715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228).

Sponsored by Erickson Retirement Communities and Charlestown, the reception marks the 10th Anniversary of the Catonsville Relay for Life.  The reception is open to cancer survivors and their caregivers from Charlestown and the surrounding community.

“The Survivor’s Reception is a celebration of the human spirit, both of the cancer survivors and their caregivers who shared their gifts.  We are proud to partner with the American Cancer Society and the Catonsville Relay for Life to honor these role models,” stated Mary Evans, Senior Community Services Manager at Charlestown.

To make a reservation, please contact Mary Evans at 410-737-8838, ext. 8558 by Wednesday, April 30th.  Admission is free.

The Catonsville Relay for Life will be held on June 7th and 8th on the campus of the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville.  It is a team event that promotes survivorship and increases cancer awareness in the community.  Families, schools, companies, hospitals and other community groups create teams of eight to fifteen members who take turns walking around the track to raise money to find a cure.

For more information on the Relay for Life, please contact event Chair Mary Delawder, an Executive Assistant in the Charlestown administrative office, at mcdelawder@comcast.net or http://events.cancer.org/rflcatonsville.
