2008 Winter/Spring Caregiver Workshops

Workshop #1 : Is There Help Out There? Resources and Services
Learn about resources and services available to help you and your older loved one. Learn how
to access these services, what Medicare and Medicaid cover and where to find financial help.
Workshop #2: Elder Speak: When a Loved One Won’t Listen
Younger and older adults communicate on different wave lengths causing frustration and
resentment for both parties. Learn valuable tips for effectively communicating with an older
loved one to prompt change.
Workshop #3 : I’m not Waving, I’m Drowning: Emotions and Coping Skills
Although caring for an older loved one is rewarding, it can take a toll on the health of the
caregiver. Learn about the range of emotions caregivers experience and how to manage them
by identifying and using coping skills that work.
