The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt is pleased to present best-selling author, advice columnist and self-esteem expert, Jess Weiner, to serve as the keynote speaker during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, February 24 to March 1, 2008. Weiner will discuss her new second book, “Life Doesn’t Begin 5 Pounds From Now,” which attempts to decode the language of “fat” and explores how body image controls the way women think about all aspects of their lives: health, wealth, family, career and relationships.
Weiner, who suffered from an eating disorder as a teen, chronicled her battle in her first book, “A Very Hungry Girl,” and since then she has inspired millions of women and teens with her refreshingly candid views on body image. She was recently named the Global Ambassador for the Dove Self-Esteem Fund, and has appeared on Oprah and The Tyra Banks Show, as well as makes frequent appearances on Today Show and CNN Showbiz Tonight. The event is free and open to the public.
